Offering the best virtual congress experience: 8 engagement enhancing tips

Travel restrictions and social distancing have resulted in  global pharmaceutical companies having to find alternative ways to engage with with their target audiences. Transferring face-to face large congresses and smaller scale meetings to a virtual setting has quickly become a popular way to reach KOLs and HCPs, with many advantages around cost savings and increased accessibility.

It goes without saying that the content of the event is the most important factor for visitors, however feedback from consultants, about the pros and cons of virtual verses face-to-face events, revealed that connecting with peers was one of the most important reasons for attending such events. Healthcare communications agencies have worked hard not only to ensure that the content is first class but that users can enjoy an immersive experience.

Below are 8 ways to provide visitors a more engaging and interactive experience at your virtual event:

1   Live Sessions

Include live sessions where visitors can interact with speakers

2  Live presentations

Include live presentations where visitors can browse the latest research and connect with authors

3  Live Polls

Include live polls so that visitors can vote and be part of the conversation

4  Question and answer sessions

Live Q&A sessions and surveys allow visitors to give feedback

5  Virtual Lounge

Offer a virtual lounge/break out rooms where visitors can make connections and engage with their community

6  E-Poster arena

Have an E-posters space so visitors can view the latest research

7  Record sessions

Record sessions so that visitors can view and missed events at a later stage.

8  Event Guide

Finally, it is important not to assume the time poor HCP’s know how to navigate the event  so provide a simple guide to the event features so that visitors can easily see up front how to get the best user experience.

At Porterhouse Medical, our virtual engagement experts create compelling content and advise on the latest interactive meeting software, audio/visual logistics, and content management to give users the interaction opportunities that they desire. If you are looking to achieve engagement excellence at your next virtual event, get in touch – we would love to help!
