World Ovarian Cancer Day is the initiative of the World Ovarian Cancer Coalition (WOCC) and occurs every year on 8 May. The objective of the day is to raise awareness, funding and support for all of the women around the world living with ovarian cancer, along with their families and patient support organisations.
On the last day of February each year, countries worldwide take part in Rare Disease Day to raise awareness of a diverse group of disorders that affect fewer than 1 in 2,000 people in Europe or fewer than 200,000 people in the USA.
Every year on 4 February the global population unites for World Cancer Day, with the aim of highlighting that millions of potentially avoidable deaths occur each year as a result of cancer. More than a third of cases could be prevented by adopting healthier behaviours; therefore, World Cancer Day is the ideal opportunity to spread this message and raise the profile of cancer within the global media.
As part of the Porterhouse Medical Group’s mission to help improve people’s lives, we use our communications expertise to raise awareness of diseases, and participate in many fund-raising activities for charity. We also adopt a local charity to fundraise for each year. Last year, we had an enjoyable and often energetic time supporting SportsAble.
