We are thrilled to announce that Ellen Loft, a recent participant in the Porterhouse Pathfinders Internship Programme, has joined Porterhouse Medical as a permanent member of our global Scientific Services team.

Ellen began her 12-week internship with us in February, bringing with her a BSc in Natural Sciences from the University of Leeds, where she completed a microbiology research project focused on SUMOylation and the insulin cycle. During the internship, she gained valuable exposure to the world of healthcare communications, including client engagement, compliance standards, and essential industry platforms.

Her background also includes scientific writing experience as part of the ‘Write in the Loop’ team, where she created engaging, interactive articles on a wide range of life science topics. At Porterhouse, she continued to develop these skills, contributing to a variety of deliverables across multiple disease areas — including a website feature raising awareness of Inflammatory Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

A particular highlight of her internship was an independent research project and presentation on Artificial Intelligence in the Med Comms Industry, exploring themes such as environmental impact, bias, inclusivity, and the evolving role of AI in our field.

After taking a month out to travel around Japan, we’re delighted to welcome Ellen back as an Associate Medical Writer based in our growing London office. Her insights and experience from the internship have already proven valuable, and we are excited to see her continued growth within the Porterhouse family.

Reflecting on her new role, Ellen shared:

“I’m excited to be returning to Porterhouse as an Associate Medical Writer. The company was a wonderful place to intern, with an employee-focused approach that creates a supportive and collaborative environment. Everyone is always approachable and willing to answer any questions. I’m looking forward to continuing my professional journey as part of the team.”

Jan Coetzee, Talent Manager at Porterhouse, added:

“I’m delighted to welcome Ellen back to Porterhouse! Her journey is a testament to the value of our Pathfinders Internship Programme — both for graduates seeking hands-on experience and for the company as we nurture future talent. We are proud to support early career development and are thrilled to see Ellen take this next step with us.”

Welcome back, Ellen! We look forward to the fresh perspectives and continued contributions you’ll bring to the team.
