Welcoming the latest Intern to the Porterhouse Pathfinders Graduate Internship Programme

Porterhouse Medical Group is delighted to welcome Matthew Wilcox to our graduate internship programme, Porterhouse Pathfinders.

Porterhouse Pathfinders is a 12-week internship for bright, enthusiastic life science graduates with a passion for science and communication. Candidates benefit from the opportunity to experience the workings of a successful healthcare communications agency first-hand. In addition to gaining experience of industry-specific tools and processes while providing general support to our medical writers and account managers, candidates undertake their own project under the guidance of a member of our team. Currently, the programme is being managed and undertaken both remotely and office-based, as COVID-19 restrictions allow.

Matt graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2020 with a BSc in psychology, which included a semester at the University of Toronto. As part of his degree, Matt conducted a research project that involved conceptualising a study hypothesis, applying for ethical approval, analysing statistical data and writing a report and a literature review.

After graduating, he worked in a retail environment as a Customer Assistant throughout the pandemic, and this year he gained experience as a Freelance Medical Writer with PeerVoice. During the latter role, he received training, independently worked on a grant and gained insights into the updated Good Publication Practice guidelines and bodies such as the ABPI and the EFPIA. Matt is very much looking forward to using his creativity and his writing abilities while further developing his skills and gaining first-hand experience within the wider healthcare communications industry.

In his spare time, Matt likes to cook and do martial arts, so we’ll be sure to never criticise his cooking!

Welcome to the Porterhouse family, Matt! We hope you enjoy your time with us and gain a valuable and inspirational insight into the world of healthcare communications.

At Porterhouse Medical Group, our people make the difference. Our globally acclaimed agency works hard to develop its talented teams, a feature that has been recognised through our achievement of the Gold accreditation in July 2019 from Investors in People (www.investorsinpeople.com), the international standard for people management.
