As part of our mission to help improve people’s lives, each year Porterhouse Medical Group selects a local charity partner to support by holding fundraising events and using our communications expertise to raise awareness for their cause.
For 2020, we have been partnered with First Days Children’s Charity, that works help children whose families are struggling financially, and reduce the long-term impact of poverty by providing the important things that they need for their early years at home and at school.
First Days does amazing work, and this year the impact of the charity’s tireless efforts has been felt more than ever because it has been supporting local families during what has been (and remains) a very challenging and uncertain time. As we are now in the festive season, First Days is holding a Christmas stocking campaign so that no child feels they have been forgotten by Father Christmas after this difficult year.
To support this festive scheme, the Porterhouse charity team used both monetary and physical donations from Porterhouse employees to fill numerous empty ‘stockings’ with required items, which ranged from underwear and socks to books and shampoo (plus a small toy or two!). The Christmas stockings were recently delivered to the First Days warehouse in time to be safely distributed to local children in need by Christmas Day. We hope that they will bring some joy to the children who receive them!
We are also proud to reveal that our charity team has raised a total of £1,727.32 for First Days so far this year through numerous events, including a virtual bake-off and seasonal activities. We received a lovely letter of thanks to our charity team and the Porterhouse family for their work and generosity supporting this great cause.
