Porterhouse goes racing

As a reward for all our hard work, the team at Porterhouse enjoyed a glamorous day of horse racing in Newbury last Friday, despite heavy rain hitting the town on Thursday night and causing flash flooding in the town centre. The downpour left the going heavy at the racecourse and many horses were pulled out at the last minute.

However, these setbacks did not deter us from having a great time. Following a lovely lunch, we benefitted from the services of our own tipster who gave some useful hints on the favoured runners and riders to back. Eight races followed, and staff fortunes waxed and waned between visits to the paddock to view the majestic horses (and visits to the bar!).

Everyone had a fun day and it was a great opportunity for us all to get together and get to follow one of the company’s core values: humour and happiness in our working lives.

This was our third company-wide social event this year following a murder mystery in April and a Thames boat trip in July. Now for the Christmas party!
