Porterhouse Medical Group is delighted to introduce the latest group of new starters to the Nottingham office of our global healthcare communications agency.
First, we would like to welcome Megan Wilde, who has joined our growing Scientific Services Team as an Associate Medical Writer.
Megan is highly qualified for her new role as she has just completed her PhD in Oncology and Cancer Biology at the University of Nottingham. She has recently submitted her dissertation on ‘Identifying targeting peptides and tumour associated antigens for the treatment and early detection of triple negative breast cancer’. Megan also gained a first-class honours MSci Biochemistry and Biological Chemistry at Nottingham University. She is passionate about raising awareness of breast cancer and has contributed to materials distributed at outreach events such as a Pint of Science.
In her spare time, Megan enjoys reading and hiking.
Secondly, we would like to welcome Sophie Mathewson. Sophie has also joined our Nottingham-based team as an Associate Medical Writer. Sophie has a keen interest in human physiology and nutrition, which is reflected in her first-class honours BSc from the University of Birmingham in Sports and Exercise Science. She followed that by gaining an MSc in Human and Applied Physiology at King’s College London, before completing a PhD in Musculoskeletal Ageing, and working as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant, at the University of Birmingham once again.
Sophie has just submitted her thesis, ‘The influence of optimal dietary protein intake for muscle metabolism across the lifespan’, so will hopefully pass on some healthy nutritional tips to her new colleagues at Porterhouse.
Last but not least, we welcome Catherine Harrison to the team. Catherine is joining us for 10 weeks as part in our PhD internship programme. She is clearly a huge fan of Nottingham having studied at the University since 2011. She has a BSc in Biology, an MSc in Molecular Genetics and is currently completing her BBSRC Doctoral Training Programme in Industrial Biotechnology and the Bioeconomy.
In her spare time, Catherine enjoys board games and coming up with fun animal facts to share with her partner. She has a fascinating fact about eels which the animal lovers at Porterhouse might want to ask her about!
Jan Coetzee, Talent Manager, commented ‘I’m delighted that our Nottingham office has been such a success and a magnet for PhD science students wanting to stay in the area once they’ve completed their studies. Working with the University of Nottingham to support their initiative of retaining talent in the local area has been very successful. I look forward to seeing our latest team members grow and develop in their roles and enjoy the very sociable office that Nottingham has become.’
Welcome to the Porterhouse family, everyone! We look forward to working with you and hope you enjoy being part of our growing band of merry men and women in Nottingham! 😊
