Job Description
Medical Writer – US-based (remote worker)
The Medical Writer plays a key role in supporting the medical team by researching, drafting, writing and delivering accurate and engaging scientific content (including scientific publications) for our pharmaceutical clients and their healthcare stakeholders. Working closely with senior colleagues you will transform complex medical information into clear, accessible materials tailored to a variety of different audiences.

As a Medical Writer your key responsibilities will include:
- Writing clear, grammatically correct, technical, and creative medical/scientific text for a variety of audiences (e.g. healthcare professionals, pharmaceutical field-based teams, and patients)
- Ensuring the accuracy of all information, data, and referencing for the publications/documents produced
- Ensuring projects remain within specification and liaising with clients, internal colleagues and external experts to negotiate changes where necessary
- Being proactive in tracking projects and chasing comments from clients and authors as well as determining timelines
- Working on a variety of projects at the same time
- Learning and understanding new therapy areas quickly and comprehensively, inspiring confidence with the client
Desired background and skills
We are looking for an experienced medical writer to maintain our reputation as a first-class medical communications agency delivering scientific programs of the highest quality. Specifically, we are looking for individuals with the following skills, attributes, and qualifications:
- A PhD in a life science is preferred but Masters level candidates with practical work experience will be considered. A strong academic record and any additional academic or clinical qualifications will add to the strength of the application
- Two to three years of progressive experience in a medical communications agency or pharmaceutical company is required though a strong academic record and demonstrated tangible skill in medical communications will also be considered
- A strong work ethic and a solution-focused ‘can do’ attitude combined with intellectual curiosity and creativity
- A passion for medical communications, simplifying complex themes, and creative approaches in communications and education
- This position is remote with candidates on the East coast preferred. Some travel to client meetings, internal meetings and/or congresses is expected.
Salary and benefits
Salary Range: $75k – $90k
The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the salary range for this position. Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, prior experience, skills, competencies, and therapeutic area proficiency needed in the role.
Additional company benefits include paid time off, health/dental/vision care, available 401k plan well as a discretionary employer paid bonus.
