Together as a family, we grow and flourish: An update on our Mental Health First Aid team at Porterhouse

At Porterhouse Medical Group, we are aware that anyone can be affected by mental health issues at any time and the importance of mental well-being. Therefore, as a busy, global healthcare communications agency, we have a number of initiatives in place to look after our valued teams. For example, in 2019 we introduced Mental Health First Aider (MHFA) training to help support the mental well-being of the Porterhouse family.

Whether face-to-face or remotely, our mental health first aid volunteers act as a point of contact for our employees to talk to if they have any concerns. They listen to any stresses or issues that our teams may be experiencing in their personal or work lives, and they are trained on how best to provide reassurance, advice and information on professional organisations that may be able to help.

Our MHFA’s also contribute to our team of Time to Change champions who work towards ending the stigma previously associated with mental health problems and create fun activities to boost our humour and happiness at work.

We are delighted to announce that we have two newly trained volunteers who have joined our MHFA team: Barbara Vode, a Senior Events Co-ordinator based in Barcelona, and Jane Rodgers, Digital Marketing Director based at our Reading office.

One of our core values here at Porterhouse is ‘Together as a family, we grow and flourish’; therefore, we are both proud and grateful that Alex, Babs, Emma, Jane and Rose are living our values and have stepped up to support our busy team.
