Did you know that: “79% of plastic that has ever been made still sits in landfills or the natural environment (with the exception of the small amount that has been incinerated or recycled)” [1]
At Porterhouse, as part of our mission to improve lives, we recognise that we have a responsibility to the planet and are committed to reducing our environmental impact. This week, in support of Earth Day 2024 and this year’s focus ‘Planet vs Plastic’, the Porterhouse family pledges to protect our planet by saying NO to single-use plastics and opting for reusable alternatives. Every piece of plastic we refuse is a step towards a cleaner, healthier Earth for future generations. 🌍♻️
To mark the event, The Porterhouse Environmental Team will be raising awareness of the impact of plastic pollution by holding a quiz at the company Town Hall on Thursday 25 April.
They are also running a competition on Teams throughout the week asking employees to submit an example of the way in which they follow one (or more) of the 6 R’s in relation to plastic use (Rethink, Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repair). Participants are invited to submit as many examples as they choose, and voting for the best overall example will take place next week.
The winners of the quiz and the competition will receive a newly branded eco-friendly Porterhouse water bottle and a £10 Etsy voucher (Etsy is the first major shopping site to offset 100% of carbon emissions from packaging and delivery of every order [2]).
