As the Great British Bake Off has returned to our screens, the Porterhouse charity representatives, Sarah and Izzy organised an office bake off to raise money for our charity partners, Launchpad.
The Porterhouse team baked delicious cakes which were on sale throughout the day, along with some other ready made contributions. True to form, the cake-loving Porterhouse family made generous donations for the culinary delights. The usual judges from the show, Mary and Paul made an appearance, along with Mel and Sue. Plus we had a couple of extra ‘A’ list judges on the panel, the dreaded Debbie and fearsome Fabrice.
Judge Debbie commented; “We had to be really ruthless as all of the entries were so good!” and the results from the charity bake off were:
- Star Baker: Sarah – it seems your ‘success tart’ really was a great success! (hence the empty plate in the winners photograph) The judges said your cake was ‘very tasty and flavoursome.’
- Runner-up: Paula – the judges said; ‘your cake looked amazing and was baked well.’
- Runner-up: Alice – the judges commented that it was ‘clear that a lot of work had gone into it and it had a lovely lemony taste.’
Congratulations to the winners and thank you to Izzy and Sarah for organising the bake-off, and to all those who took part. Your enthusiasm and generosity make us very proud!
